Technical staff are trained to conduct clinical examinations of sick animals, to look for signs that indicate the animal may be sick. These include changes in:
- rectal temperature
- heart rate
- pulse rate
- respiratory rate
- respiratory sounds
- gut sounds
- mucous membrane colour
