  • Some diseases like highly pathogenic avian influenza virus (HPAI) and foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) are capable of spreading very rapidly from one animal to another through direct contact (touching) or by airborne spread of virus on nasal droplets from one group of animals to another nearby group. The most rapid spread of these diseases occurs in animals that are hosued in large numbers in sheds.
