Thinking about the possible causes of disease, the host, the agent, and the environment when looking at every sick animal will help para-veterinarians provide better services to farmers for treatment and prevention of disease in animals. Para-vets should be involving field epidemiology skills in all aspects of their every-day activities. The following examples are intended to illustrate how field epidemiology skills can be useful in all sorts of activities ranging from managing an individual sick animal to a larger scale disease outbreak.
